Did you want a bike? Now pedal... close to home
Covid has undoubtedly had many negative consequences, but – beyond the drama of the situation – it has also given, in some areas, a few “positive jolts.”
One of these was the increase in the use of bicycles and their purchase, which at a certain point was further encouraged by the well-known “bike bonus” introduced by the Government.
A healthy habit that has had positive effects both on people’s wellbeing and on the health of the planet. Production also had to grow proportionally, since demand suddenly became significant. And so, according to an Eurostat study, we discover that Italy was actually the second country in Europe for bicycle production in 2020.
The amusing thing is that Trieste has always been – or rather, used to be – a city not particularly suited to cyclists: hills and bora winds, a combination not loved by enthusiasts, especially beginners. But since last year, even our beautiful and distinctive city has filled with bicycles and similar vehicles, offering a new, colorful, more international atmosphere.
The city administration also adapted accordingly: today there are more cycling zones and clearer signage to protect both those who ride and those who don’t but may otherwise be exposed to the risk of accidents. Not to mention the launch of the appreciated bike-sharing service.
Trieste is not a metropolis, but there are certainly areas that are more convenient for bike lovers, and in the last two years this may even have become a factor in choosing one apartment over another.
We have several properties in cycling-friendly areas (with a safe place to store your two-wheeler), all available on our website www.galleryimmobiliare.it
